Google advice: do I need a website?
A website with user-friendly web design is a digital face or representative of your business.
Google’s new “Search for Beginners” video series is designed to help companies determine if they need a website.
Interestingly enough, Google does not recommend building a website immediately. The video contains various suggestions for different types of companies.
If your business only has a physical store, Google recommends starting with Google My Business. As a result, a company can still be found in search results without investing the same amount of time and effort it takes to build a website.
If your company sells products online, Google actually recommends investing your time in social media before building a custom website. Google proposes to build a strong presence on social media while maintaining a simple e-commerce store.
As a business grows, Google recommends investing in a custom website that has been completely rebuilt.
Alternatively, you can also use a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress.
Google’s advice seems to be aimed at new businesses with minimal resources. You can always use multiple channels at the same time if you have the means.
Google emphasizes the importance of keeping websites updated. Make sure that your website keeps customers informed of the latest sales, offers and special events.
Google may be trying to say that it is not worth investing in a website unless you plan to keep it updated regularly.
